Aurion (TSXV:AU, OTCQX:AIRRF) is a Canadian junior specialising in gold in the Central Lapland Greenstone Belt in Finland. Their two flagship properties, Risti and Launi, are high-potential gold projects in geology reminiscent of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt in Canada. In addition, the company has a joint venture with B2Gold, covering the Kutuvuoma property in the same terrane, as well as with Strategic on the Silasselka vanadium-iron-titanium property that includes significant gold and PGE potential in the Hanhimaa Shear Zone.

The Risti project covers around 16,197 hectares and has been under exploration by Aurion since 2015, with several exciting gold discoveries occurring in that time. Aurion is advancing a whopping seven prospects at Risti, with each at a different phase of exploration and development. This strategy enables the company to proceed with more advanced prospects while not neglecting other potentially important discoveries.

The Launi project’s area of around 144 km2 consists of eastern and western blocks, with exploration to date focussed on Launi East, which has no previous history of exploration. Since 2018, Aurion has identified many gold-bearing targets on the property, and there is still plenty left to explore. Drilling using a small scout drill rig over two years revealed that mineralisation is extensive and likely at least partly contiguous across much of the property, and intensive sampling campaigns have produced grab samples assayed at up to 709 g/t Au, with an average grade of 4.20 g/t.

With a geology-focussed corporate management structure and financial involvement from significant incubator Kinross Gold, Aurion is on solid ground in Lapland.
