Goldplay Mining (TSXV:AUC) is a Canadian junior with the copper and gold riches of British Columbia and Portugal in their sights. Their flagship project is Scottie West in BC’s Golden Triangle, an area of intense exploration for a wide array of mineral deposits, especially gold. Scottie West lies on land that has been exposed over recent years by retreating glaciers, providing fresh exploration ground for companies willing to do the work.

Also in the Goldplay portfolio are significant holdings in Portugal. In June 2021, Goldplay expanded its Portuguese interests with the acquisition of past producing copper and gold projects, as well as highly prospective ground, from Indice Crucial. These projects fall in the Ossa Morena and Central Iberian Zones of Portuguese geology, which are in many areas under-explored by modern technique despite extensive historical workings. There is potential for major discoveries of both copper and gold in both zones, as well as other base metals showings in some areas.

These newer projects were not Goldplay’s first foray into Portugal. Before their acquisition, the company already held the Borba 2 copper-gold application for exploration in the Alentejo region. Borba 2 covers around 230 square kilometres and contains three past-producing mines, hosting copper and gold in shear zones and epithermal systems.

Goldplay listed under the ticker code AUC on the TSXV in April 2021, following an over-subscribed private placement of shares. This raised significant capital for the company to pursue an ambitious growth strategy, which has seen it take advantage of opportunities like its 2021 Portuguese acquisitions. Headed by President and CEO Catalin Kilofliski, the company is well-positioned to capitalise on the promising geology it controls, as well as new chances that may arise.
